What is Seroxat?
Everyone has some of a substance called Serotonin in their body. Low
levels of the substance, serotonin in the brain are thought to be a cause
of some depression and other depression related conditions. Seroxat (or
Paxil in America) is one of a group of medications called Selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and works by bringing the levels of
your serotonin back to somewhat normal. Seroxat relieves symptoms of
depression and much associated anxiety. It also treats obsessions and
compulsions, or panic attacks in patients who might or might not also
suffer from a fear of going into public places (agoraphobia). Paxil or
Seroxat is also used to treat patients who may avoid and/or are fearful of
social situations (social anxiety disorder or social phobia). These
tablets are not addictive. By continuing to take your tablets even when
you begin to feel better, Paxil-Seroxat will prevent your symptoms from
returning.
